New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was supposedly fined $50,000 for the group’s offenses of NFL offseason guidelines.
Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal reported the news Thursday.
The Patriots were docked 2 arranged group activities due to an infraction of conference procedures, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The infraction appeared one primarily of the clerical range, with a conference being made noticeable on the group’s internal calendar– therefore altering it from voluntary to obligatory under the eyes of the NFLPA.
No on-field offenses taken place.
The Patriots’ history of rulebreaking most likely caused more attention being put on the event than if it occurred with another group. New England was notoriously the topic of both the Deflategate and SpyGate debates, resulting in a credibility that the group would flex the guidelines if required to get an one-upmanship.
It’s extremely not likely a 15- minute conference in May will have any effect on the group’s efficiency in September, so this simply decreases as a pricey mistake that will cost Belichick cash and the group some offseason bonding.
